About

David J. Ng is a professional musician and educator based out of the NY/NJ metropolitan area. After being heavily involved in the Instrumental Music program at John P. Stevens High School, and two national tours with the Young Continentals, David attended and graduated from Belmont University in Nashville, TN with a Bachelor of Music degree in K-12 Instrumental Music Education (Classical Percussion Principal).

From 2006 to 2016, David taught Instrumental and General Music for the Jersey City Public Schools in Jersey City, NJ. David also serves as a Worship Leader at Grace Faith Church in New York’s Chinatown, leading music during the Sunday English Service.  David released his first solo CD project “Stories” in 2013.

As a performer, David freelances as a drummer, percussionist and keyboardist around New York and New Jersey, as well as around the US and internationally. David has performed as a backup percussionist and keyboardist in concert with 3 time GMA Music Award Winner Clay Crosse and Grammy Nominated/8 time GMA Music Award Winning solo artists Andy Chrisman and Marty Magehee, formerly of 4Him. He has also led worship at various church events in New York, as well as Taiwan, Cambodia, Mexico and the Dominican Republic. In 2011, David produced his first full length project, entitled “The Looking Glass,” for singer/songwriter Marc Schlesinger. He has also served as Drummer and Musical Director for Marc’s live shows. In the classical arena, David has performed with the Plainfield Symphony Orchestra, and the New Jersey Workshop for the Arts Concert Band. In 2004, David performed with the Belmont Univ. Percussion Ensemble at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. David also served for 4 years as Percussion Director for the JP Stevens High School Band program, where he directed the Marching Band Drumline and the Concert Percussion Ensemble.

David has studied classical and commercial percussion with Dr. Christopher Norton, Mr. Todd London, Mr. Brian Fullen, and conducting with Dr. Robert Gregg. He holds an alumni membership with Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia National Music Fraternity.
